WHAT IS IT?

This is a 2-Way, Co-axial, Solenoid-operated, Pneumatic Valve. It has female AND-4 Inlet and a male swivel MS-E4 Outlet Port. This helps insure proper installation and flow direction. The principle design feature is the bubble tight internal leakage rating. The Valve will not allow any leakage at normal operating pressure and temperature over a 15 minute period of observation. Typically, a Valve that passes such a test will not leak over extended periods of normal usage. The Valve is compact and, at 6 ounces, its mass can be supported by the attached plumbing.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Valve is normally open (N/O) and must be energized to close. Upon application of 18-30 VDC to the Coil, the electromagnetic force, together with inlet pressure, act to overcome the Return Spring, closing the Valve and maintaining the sealing force. The elastomeric "button" (poppet) is located within the moving Armature and, when energized, rests against a conical, stainless steel "seat". The Armature is generously slotted to provide for coaxial flow around it when de-energized. All surfaces are wither stainless steel of nickel plated for corrosion protection.
HOW IS IT USED?
This unit was designed to provide manual and automatic control of air speed indicating pilot tube supply pressure, such that in the event of pilot failure (i.e.. Bird Strike), air speed readings can remain accurate by isolating the failure. High reliability and long life are therefore essential characteristics. It has application in any pneumatic system where extremely low internal leakage is a necessary parameter. Higher service pressures can be accommodated with minor adjustments in Return Spring force levels and Coil windings.
