WHAT IS IT?

This is a 2-Way, 2-Position, Normally Closed, Poppet Type Solenoid Valve. It is configured for Plug-in or Manifold installation. The Valve functions while completely immersed in pressurized fuel. All surfaces are Stainless Steel or plated for corrosion protection. Provisions for an optional Screen-Type Inlet Filter are standard. The Valve is pressure-aided and spring-loaded closed. The D.C. Solenoid is rated for continuous duty at 300 degrees F fluid and 460 degrees F ambient temperatures. Vibration tolerance is up to 20 G's at 0.5 inch peak to peak amplitude, any axis. Minimum dropout voltage is 3.7 VDC with no flow at 70 degrees F.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

By applying 28 to 36 VDC to the Coil, the Armature, which contains an elastomeric Poppet, is attracted to the Upper Pole Piece, compressing the Return Spring and opening the Valve. Removing the electrical signal permits the Spring and the pressure forces to close the Valve. The flow rate is equivalent to a sharp edge orifice of .048 inch diameter where Cd is equal to 0.65. In Jet Fuel at room temperature and 900 psig inlet pressure, that equates to 200 p.p.h. @ 100 psid. The Electrical Connector conforms to MIL-C-26500 Hermetic with Class F Elastomer.
HOW IS IT USED?
In this configuration, the Valve is used to control the flow of Fuel at pressure deep within a Turbine Engine Fuel Control Manifold. Elastomers are compatible with JP-4, JP-5, Diesel Oil and Gasoline. Compatability with standard hydraulic oils or synthetics is available with alternate seal materials. Immersion in the fluid media is often necessary to reach otherwise inaccessable areas or whenever envelope restrictions limit external mounting. The Valve is explosion proof and can be provided with a conduit fitting if specified. A coarse screen inlet filter can also be included.
