WHAT IS IT?

This is a 2-position, three-way, poppet type Solenoid Valve. It is compatible with all petro-chemical fuels and hydraulic fluids and, with suitable elastomer material, can be compatible with the synthetic oils. The design permits the Valve to be completely submerged in the working fluid. This allows for installation deep within a fuel or hydraulic manifold occupying what otherwise may have been wasted space and giving a "clean" look to the package. The "pig-tail" leads can be replaced by a connector if required. All ferro-magnetic surfaces are Electroless Nickel plated for corrosion prevention. The Coil is the "Bifilar" Type which provides for radio frequency noise suppression.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

In the de-energized position, a Return Spring holds a metal Ball against a metal Seat allowing supply pressure to be ported to the control (cylinder) port, sealing off the return port. By applying between 12 and 15 VDC to the Coil, the Plunger Assembly is withdrawn and a second Spring and Poppet moves the Ball to the opposite Seat, sealing off the supply pressure, venting the control port to the return port. Normal operating pressure is 450 psig. Response time is less than 20 ms is either direction. The Coil is rated for continuous duty.
HOW IS IT USED?
The unit pictured is used in a Turbine Engine Fuel Control Manifold to divert pressure to a two position, spring-biased, piston type actuator. The Valve Body is configured to accept 100 mesh screen filters on both the Supply and Control ports, if specified. The Valve will tolerate fluid temperatures from -65 degrees to +300 degrees F. The Coil draws 0.5 amps at +77 degrees F. With alternate Spring selections, the ports may be interchanged or the Valve converted to a normally closed system (control open to return, de-energized). Internal leakage (supply to control) is less than 10cc/min with 250 psig applied to the supply port.
