WHAT IS IT?

This is a D.C. Solenoid-operated Coaxial Pneumatic Valve. It is a 2-way, normally closed unit containing an elastomeric sealing system designed for minimum internal leakage. All "wetted" surfaces are compatible with hydrocarbons and ferromagnetic materials are nickel plated for corrosion protection. The Valve is pressure aided closed. Opening and closing response is less than 15 ms. Inlet and outlet fittings conform to MS33514E4 and Lead Wires to MIL-W-16878EE, 22 AWG. It weighs less than 4 ounces.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

Energizing the Coil with 24 VDC causes the Armature Assembly, which is the Valve Poppet, to move against the Spring, opening the Valve. Removing the signal allows the pressure and spring forces to move the Armature/Poppet to the Valve closed position. Internal leakage is held to less than one bubble in 5 minutes with 15 PSIG inlet pressure applied. External leakage is zero. Flow is equivalent to a sharp-edge orifice of .080 inches at a coefficient of .65(Cd).
HOW IS IT USED?
This design was created to act as a Cabin Pressurizing Valve on a Business Jet Aircraft. It can be used in and low pressure (less than 50 psig) hydraulic or pneumatic system. In a fuel system, it would provide 350 lbs./hr. flow at full pressure drop. The Valve is easily installed and can be supported by system piping or clamped in place. Tightening or loosening torque at the fittings is taken by the hex wrenching flats, not transmitted through the Assembly. Wire leads are shown but a standard Connector can be employed if specified.
